Stone fruit Grading
Harvested stone fruit usually arrive in the packing area from the orchards in boxes or in bins. These boxes are stored and packed according customer demands.
The stone fruit are dumped through a bin dumper or a rotative box dumper on a belt conveyor, which will move them to the quality sorting table. Some type of peaches will be dumped into a water tank. These peaches will be more delicate, therefore it is very important that they are handled delicately, product friendly and no risk of damages.
On this table a visual inspection is done to extract the second quality. Now fruit undergo brushing (brusher-washer-dryer) to remove hair and dust. (In certain case, the fruit can be washed).
The fruit continue to the Aweta Grader. The Aweta singulator is specially designed to separate every single product. This prevents them from doubling up and guarantees an accurate measurement.
In some areas, depending on weather conditions and climate, the sweetness in stone fruit can be a problem. If the fruit doesn't contain the minimum sweetness level, the grower might not be able to market his stone fruit. In those cases the Aweta IQA will make the fruit a more sellable product. If the grower can remove the fruit under the minimum brix level, he can guarantee the consumer a stone fruit that complies to their standards.
The Aweta Grader will sort the products on weight and colour. Special cameras (size) inspect the products according to required standards. Specific sweetness sensors are able to measure brix content.
Products are then transported to different outlets: Outlets can be equipped with pre-sizing and/ or packing. Pre sizing is done by automatic bin and/or crate fillers and packing with customized packing table where the product is manually put into boxes. Semi-automatic packing is also possible.
