Cherry tomatoes grading and packing

Cherry tomatoes arrive in the packing house in large bins. By means of the feeding hopper and elevator, they are transported to the Aweta grader for small products, the Millistar. The small fruit eliminator eliminates the tomatoes that are too small and move the tomatoes further down the process. The Millistar sorts the cherry tomatoes on size, color and external quality.

Cherry tomatoes are often sold in small punnets, usually between 250 and 500 grams. On a daily basis, large volumes of cherry tomatoes pass through the sorting process of the packing house. In order to accommodate this large volume, Aweta has developed a special set up.

Cherry tomatoes are buffered on special hopper belts in the machine. Each belt contains up to 300 kilograms of cherry tomatoes of a specific size and color. When one or more hopper belts are full, these belts transport the graded tomatoes of a specific size and color to an automated punnet filler.

The filled punnets are placed in boxes, which will be palletized.
